Let it sprout in its own time
We compare ourselves all the time - ‘what we should be wearing’, ‘what we should be doing’, ‘what we should be achieving’. Comparison lets us think that we will be in the right path, only if we do the same as everyone else is doing.
We want predictability and certainty. By looking around, we have the impression we are achieving the best for ourselves. But, in fact, we are only distracted.
In an era like never before, we are swimming in an ocean of information - real-time information. The FOMO has never been so real because every minute not used to look around ourselves is a minute wasted. Poor, unfortunate souls, the ones who are not connected.
We are only distracted because, in this pursuit of consuming all the information in the world, we lose ourselves. Our aspirations are public, our goals are shared, and our life is invaded by the eyes of everybody else. And we think we’ve got it all when all eyes are on us. However, in a world where everyone has something to say, we cannot listen to our own voices.
Our uniqueness should be a source of celebration, not distress. Diversity is necessary for progress and complexity. If we are all the same, it is not possible to cope with the difficulties in front of us - there is no arsenal with one single tool.
Let’s celebrate diversity.
Let’s celebrate our uniqueness.
Let individual growth and development be the rule - because each one of us has a gift that will sprout in its own time. And let nature take care of the rest.
